Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Academy Program?
The Academy Program is designed to add another tier to the structure of Dynamo Soccer Club. The Academy program is designed to offer players higher quality, professional training and a more competitive playing experience. It is a stepping stone for players that want to play at a higher level.  The Academy program is broken down into the U7/U8 Academy program for our U7 and U8 players and the U9 Academy program for our U9 players.  U7/U8 Academy is open to any and all players, while U9 Academy teams are selected each Spring.

Academy is not just for advanced players, but also for players wanting advanced training.

Are Academy coaches volunteers?
Academy coaches are licensed or working to obtain a license.  Academy coaches are selected by the Academy Director and Dynamo Soccer Club’s Director of Coaching, and are certified through United States Soccer Federation and National Soccer Coaches Association of America coaching education courses.  Academy coaches follow a curriculum and are selected based on their success in the development of young players.

Do I need experience to play?
The Academy Program is not just for advanced players, but for players who want advanced training.  Experience is not required at the U7 and U8 Academy level.

Since U9 Academy players are selected each Spring, previous Academy experience is highly recommended for this age group.

Are there tryouts?

There is a Selection Day for any players interested in becoming a U9 Academy player.  Players must pre-register for Selection Day and will be notified of their acceptance.  Players must accept their position within the Academy program within 48 hours of notification.  Selection Day occurs each Spring season, and players will register for both of the following Fall and Spring seasons.

How do I register my child with Dynamo Soccer Club’s Academy Program?

During open registration periods, children may be registered online through Dynamo Soccer Club’s website, the same as Recreation registration.  You may also call 804-730-6510 to register.

U9 Academy teams may have more games throughout the season.

How will my child be placed on a team?

May my child play in a different age group?

Due to insurance requirements, players are not allowed to play outside of their age group.

What do I need to buy?

Each player’s registration fee includes their jersey and socks.  Players will need to provide their own cleats, shin guards and shorts.  Dynamo Soccer Club has contracted a soccer vendor to sell player equipment at discounted prices during Meet the Coach Day.

What if my child misses a practice or game?
