Steve Lovgren

Currently Steve coaches travel soccer teams in the Richmond area and founded 6 tournaments (Capital Cup, Virginia Soccer Festival, Piedmont Shootout, Martinsville Madness, Colonial Cup, and the Richmond Cup) for highly successful clubs. He also serves as a Virginia Coaching Education Instructor on the VYSA State staff. He is also the co-owner and operator of Commonwealth Soccer Programs, which provided soccer instruction in year round camps.
Formerly, the Director of Coaching and Director of Camps and Academies for the Richmond Kickers, Steve came from Eastern FC youth soccer club. Steve has an extensive and successful background with regards to his participation in youth soccer. During his time at Eastern FC, he founded the Colonial Cup soccer tournament and served dual roles as the Technical Director and General Manager.
In addition to his involvement with several youth clubs, Steve has worked several camps along the East Coast with Soccer Academy, Middle States Soccer Camps, and Richmond Kickers Pro School. This led to the creation of Commonwealth Soccer Programs in 1997. Steve himself has played soccer collegiately in Syracuse, NY and in Delaware. He has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
